The Mercedes-Benz Vision One-Eleven is a modern re-interpretation of the experimental C111 series from the 1970s. The iconic design of this stunning concept car with gull-wing doors and the signature orange color is complemented by a retro-futuristic dashboard screen in the cockpit. The pillar-to-pillar screen features transparent 3D pixels that display simple and bold graphics and driving information. The pixel surface can also be found on the front and rear end of the car where it displays a unique light signature and messages.
For the world premiere of the Vision One-Eleven in the MB Design Studio in Carlsbad my team created a bespoke Augmented Reality experience that blends the physical interior with virtual information. While we created the UX concept and design for the AR interface and the interior model in-house we've been working alongside partners to develop the AR experience using the Magic Leap 2 headset. The result was an immersive experience that expands the information on the screen by a spatial interface in the environment.
